“We met the old-fashioned way, in a night club! There was actually another guy in the club also trying to buy me drinks, but his persistence paid off…”
The love story begins
“I liked that they had been cast from real flowers which makes them even more unique”
Lucy and Tom met in London, in her words ‘the old-fashioned way’, in a night club, with eyes across the bar, drinks bought, and after many words exchanged they shared their numbers. Following multiple dates and Lucy running through Waterloo station to catch her last train on many occasion, they got engaged on her birthday 5 years later.
“To put it simply, Tom makes me very happy!”
“Aside from sunny weather and great food, Marrakesh has a unique charm that is unlike anywhere else I’ve ever been”
From Surrey to London to Morocco…Lucy and Tom both being from Surrey considered a local wedding to make it easy for friends and family to attend. However their love for Marrakesh prevailed and after a few online searches they made their fantasy become a reality.
They chose the Villa Taj Omayma for the wedding - and we can totally understand why. A mini paradise set in the middle of the desert, against the backdrop of the stunning Atlas Mountains.
The natural feel of the venue, Moroccan influences and Lucy’s love of green set the aesthetic for the wedding. The bridesmaid dresses in a lovely sage were the basis for the invitations and also the groomsmen’s accessories.
“I just wanted lots of flowers petals and natural colours to complement the venue”
‘I chose Marie Blanche because they have some beautiful pieces and it was lovely to gift my very special bridesmaids with some beautiful jewellery that I personally loved! The flower earrings were stunning and received lots of compliments on the day. I liked that they had been cast from real flowers which makes them even more unique. They tied in perfectly with my themes of flowers and nature.'‘
Lucy’s wedding planner had mentioned there would be entertainment in the form of drummers and a fire show but no one was prepared for the brilliance of the performances. All guests were drummed in to the venue and the atmosphere was buzzing throughout the day.
“The drummers started performing acrobatics on the roof terrace which I really enjoyed but then they called me to join them…”
“They told me to hold out my arms, and then lifted me high into the air and carried me round in a circle… it’s difficult to describe, but I was so shocked I couldn’t stop laughing. My husband had the same experience and it was amazing to watch.”
When it came to the music, it’s safe to say that they both have great taste.
- Ceremony Song - ‘One Day Like This’ by Elbow
- Walking in to dinner: ‘Everywhere’ by Fleetwood Mac
- First Dance: ‘May I Have this Dance’ by Francis and the Lights.
“I found picking music quite overwhelming as there are so many choices and it can really set the tone for the occasion.”
What a pleasure to be part of this gorgeous couple’s day. Two people with serious style, and enormous hearts, we couldn’t be happier for them.
Leaving you with our favourite story from our bride Lucy about their engagement:
“We were both pretty hungover to be honest! It was the day after my birthday and he took me to Leeds Castle in Kent. In the evening we sat on the bank of the moat on a picnic blanket and had some champagne. There was no one else around, and we saw some little ducklings following their mother in a line which was really sweet. Before he proposed, a group of tourists on segways appeared behind us and the man leading the tour group started talking loudly about the castle’s history, completely disrupting our romantic moment. I had an inkling he was about to propose which made it even funnier. Once they had disappeared, he asked the question. It was completely overwhelming and I felt very emotional and obviously very happy. The first person I rang was my Grandma as I couldn’t wait to tell her the news.”
“Prioritise what is most important to you, and don’t worry too much about everything else. A good spreadsheet works wonders and will help you keep track of what you still need to sort out. A photographer that makes you feel at ease can make a big difference to how you feel on the day, we were very lucky with ours!”
